Last week your meet with sperm and formed a zygote. It had made you pregnant but you still did not know. The reason behind is we mainly doubt about pregnancy when we missed our period. The newly formed embryo will soon start its transformation. It will grow to a baby from a single cell.

As the conception had already occurred it remains in the fallopian tube and starts dividing. First it divides into 2 cells, then 4, then 8 and then forms blastocyst. This blastocyst then moves towards the uterus. There it attaches to the uterus. This process is called implantation. At this time you can see slight bleeding known as spotting from the vagina. Then the lining of the uterus started to thickening for providing nutrients to the baby.

The gender of your little is already decided by this time. But how does it happen? Here we go.

The egg that is fertilised contains 46 chromosomes, 23 from the father and 23 from mother. You as a mother will always provide an X chromosome. However, father can provide any of X or Y chromosome. If the sperm carrying an X chromosome then the zygote form will have XX, that means a girl. On the other hand, if the sperm carrying a Y chromosome then the zygote will XY, which means it’s a boy. Thus the gender of the baby is depending upon the sperm that is carrying the chromosome.

So, from next time if anyone blames you for the gender of the baby then explain them that its natural and not your fault.

In addition your body will also have some changes during this time.

After the implantation of zygote in the uterus the placenta starts developing and it begins to make human chorionic gonadotropin hormone (hCG). hCG stops the production of ovum and helps in secreting the more estrogen and progesterone. The hCG hormone will then help to give the positive result of the pregnancy test.

This is the time you started getting morning sickness. You will also have an increase in the smelling power. This is caused due to the increase in the estrogen levels. You will feel mild cramp in your tummy just as the menstrual cramps. You will feel nausea, breast tenderness and a missed period.

Things you must do at this time.

Increase the iron content in your diet by eating soy products, poultry and dry friuts. Combine your food with vitamin C rich foods such as kiwi, melon, mango, oranges, tomatoes and bell peppers. Stop colouring your hair as the changes in hormones can lead to the reaction in your hair. Eat at regular and drink plenty of water, this will help you in reducing the morning sickness. Remain far stress and don’t be too conscious about your embryo. It will settle itself and start growing by its own.

Last but not the least visit with the doctor so for the basic tests and to get a proper diet for you. At this time your doctor may suggests you to save your baby’s cord blood. Now that you know some facts about week 3 you can explain these to your friends or relatives who are trying to conceive or already conceived. If so, you may wonder that alcohol can affect a test of pregnancy. It’s a common activity to have a brew or two before you know you’re pregnant, but you don’t want it to affect your pregnancy results. So, let’s look to see if there’s any reason to worry.

Most women are going to think about this dilemma, but alcohol won’t affect a pregnancy test. Drugs, drinks or antibiotics that are over-the-counter cannot give you that false results either because they have no direct correlation with the hormone of pregnancy. Although alcohol does not affect your test, it may affect the development of your baby.

The great news is that your pregnancy test results cannot be affected by alcohol! Alcohol hasn’t changed those results at all, no matter what the results are. You are testing the amount of HCG–human chorionic gonadotropin–in your urine when you take a home pregnancy test. Pregnancy tests don’t test your bloodstream, and alcohol ends up there. The test should check HCG in your bloodstream instead of urine for alcohol to affect the results of your pregnancy test.

You can detect pregnancy when human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is high in your urine. Alcohol has nothing to do with the hormone of pregnancy because it does not have any compounds that can alter hCG. In this world, you’re not alone who thought so much about whether alcohol can affect a pregnancy test. It can’t affect your outcomes, but continuous liquor drinking can harm the development of your child and can lead to premature labor. Premature birth rates, low birth weight or small size babies, and pre-eclampsia, a life-threatening condition in which a pregnant woman develops high blood pressure were similar across categories of alcohol consumption.

Babies may be born early with FAS (Fetal Alcohol Syndrome). Often, they are underweight and they do not grow well. Some have characteristic facial characteristics such as thin upper lip and small openings of the eyes, or the small vertical groove between the upper lip and the nose may be flattened. Other physical signs associated with fetal alcohol syndrome include a small head, short nose, and heart or joints forming problems.

Children with FAS are slower than other children in learning language skills. When they reach school age, with attention, memory, and hyperactivity, they often have learning disabilities and difficulty. They are more likely to have poor coordination and trouble-solving difficult times. Also, some people have trouble making friends with other children and all of these things can make create a tough time for your child.

However, as it is not clear how much alcohol it takes to cause problems, the best advice remains the same: if women are pregnant or may become pregnant, they should avoid alcohol. If you drink alcohol while you are pregnant, there are negative consequences for your unborn baby but won’t create any negative consequences in your pregnancy test.

This is reported as one of the most common questions posed by the people who are in the phase of checking the pregnancy results. It is the curiosity or the anxiety for positive or negative results of pregnancy. Similarly, it is the most common myth or misconception that people have in their minds that a pregnancy test is affected by the consumption of drugs or alcohol. To know the facts of it, one has to understand the actual concept behind it.

Pregnant women have a special hormone in their urine called the HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) and consumption of alcohol and its content in the blood stream has nothing to do with the pregnancy test. The hormone still produces irrespective of the fact that you may have consumed liquor. However, the consumption surely affects your baby in an adverse way.

Though the alcohol consumption does not affect the results of a pregnancy test, many other factors do influence the investigation which may be misrepresented as a change due to alcohol consumption. Hence, it is necessary to understand the actual time taken to conceive after having intercourse and the time taken for your body to convey it to you when you try to investigate it with the help of a pregnancy test.

As a sperm is live for 5 days once it enters your body, it is difficult to assess your precise conception date. The sperm might have entered and stayed in your body 5 days ago and may try to fertilize an egg today. An egg released today may unite with a sperm after a couple of days of sex as it can be live for 24 hours to 48 hours. However, egg fertilizing or conceiving is not just enough to get positive results in your pregnancy tests. It again takes some time to appear as the HCG is not produced as soon as you get pregnant and it is usually a week after the conception that it releases in the body.

This is still not enough to turn the pregnancy test positive as the amount of HCG produced in the body is not enough to rule out your pregnancy as positive. The hormone usually multiplies its content in not less than 2-3 days and hence it is usually after 10 – 15 days after the conception that a pregnancy test can get you the actual result. The higher the time after an intercourse, more chances of the results being accurate in the test that you conduct for yourself.

Since, the above information explains it all, we can now establish the fact that alcohol and drugs consumption does not affect the pregnancy test in any way but can cause fatal congenital diseases for your baby. A woman consuming alcohol or under drug abuse potentially increases the risk for her fetal baby. The addiction can jeopardize the growth of the baby’s cells. Impairments in brain and spinal cord may occur due to the damage done in pregnancy by consuming alcohol. Also, it is an established fact that a woman who quits the addictions even before she gets pregnant has more chances of having a healthy pregnancy and thereby having a healthy baby. Hence, the healthcare professionals always suggest getting de-addicted before one plans for a pregnancy.
